The Problem

No matter the deliverable or the people involved, tracking details, staying on schedule and keeping everyone up to date, is an age-old problem that is getting worse due to the proliferation of email and distributed teams. In a world of rapid change, where a team encounters the non-routine more than canned work-flow, the ability to deliver is impeded by how well the team handles exceptions, manages collaborative decisions and executes against the project plan. Time-to-market, cost and quality are hindered due to people being buried in email, working with out of date information and being stuck in meetings.

Every deliverable in a project requires time to be spent on formal procedures, authoring and informal decision making. For each deliverable of a project a graph can be drawn that shows the amount of time spent and when in the project the time is spent. Time is being wasted on email overload, incomplete issue lists, out of date project plans and meetings that never seem to end.

Decisions made early in the process, have a big impact on cost, quality and time-to-market. The formal procedures, which happen at the tail end of the process and consume well less than 10% of the total man hours, have been improved by workflow and enterprise applicaitons like ERP and PLM and new authoring tools have significantly reduced authoring time. To improve time-to-market a team must improve the informal decision making process, how they manage issues and execute against the plan.

Vuuch gets you out of the email swamp, delivers real-time issue lists, up to date project timelines and reduces the time spent in meetings.
